Lol Tolhurst x Budgie x Jacknife Lee have released their new single Ghosted At Home featuring the vocals of Bobby Gillespie. It comes from their forthcoming album Los Angeles set for release on 3 November via Play It Again Sam. Ghosted At Home is seeped in dark, percussive beats. It fittingly opens with a beating drum before moving into a shamanic trance vibe, moody and intense. The track is accompanied by an eerie video directed by Julian Gabriel Bendaña, inspired by David Lynch, Hitchcock and Chris Cunningham, with the band filming themselves on ring doorbell cameras in LA and Berlin.

Commenting on the track Jacknife Lee says: "This was our attempt at soundtracking Polanski’s Repulsion if Serge Gainsbourg and Can were among the musicians playing along with us. We got a groove and improvised over it and ended up with this. We were aiming for a sense of claustrophobia that Bobby skilfully picked up on when we sent him the track. This is another example of how in tune we were with our collaborators on the album even though we were sometimes separated from them.”

Budgie adds: “In life it is rare to hear someone telling their story and for us to recognize it as our own. It is rarer still when that story relates to a complex, dangerous and psychologically damaging relationship. To induce this feeling of empathy is perhaps the gift and skill of a great lyricist and writer. Bobby Gillespie is one of those writers.”

The album Los Angeles includes guest credits for, amongst others, James Murphy, Bobby Gillespie, The Edge, Civil Rights avant-gardist Lonnie Holley, Mary Lattimore, Starcrawler wildchild Arrow de Wilde and Mark Bowen from IDLES. The trio have spent the last four years creating the 13-track long-player. It’s going to be intriguing to hear the results.

Sweden’s Goat have released the second single Join The Resistance from their forthcoming album, Medicine, due out 13th October on Rocket Recordings. Join The Resistance is an uplifting joyous track, full of exuberant positivity. The instrumentation is all twangy psych guitars and thumping percussion which progresses into a guitar riff set to get the heart racing. The gorgeously softly distorted vocal pulls in the listener, weaving its magic.

Join The Resistance is a call to arms from the band, who say: "The track is celebrating when united people are not following the consensus. Asking the difficult questions and collectively finding your own path through a negative world."

The new album Medicine grew out of their recent work on the pagan folk soundtrack to Shane Meadows’ television series The Gallows Pole. However the band share that they “...were just trying to move along as freely and open-mindedly as possible”. Looking forward to hearing the outcome next month.
