Divorce share their first new music of 2025, the single Pill taken from the band's debut album Drive to Goldenhammer set for release on 7 March via Gravity/Capitol. The opening spiky beats, off kilter guitar riffs and echoey, edgy instrumentation express an anxiety which is emphasised by the initial vocals of Tiger Cohen-Towell.

The harmonies and subsequent dramatic soundscape give way to a solo piano interlude. Pill is 5 minutes in length and it's an epic song, in the sense that the structure is its own thing. The story-telling is breathtaking, and unexpected, and therein lies it joy. It ends in a completely different place to where it started, and the 5 minutes simply disappear such is the captivating nature of the song.

Commenting on the new single, co-vocalist and guitarist Tiger Cohen-Towell says: "Pill was written on not my piano at not my flat in not my city; Glasgow to be specific. It’s about sexual awakenings and the absolute thrill of feeling seen properly. It’s also about a long-term long-distance relationship that turned my life upside down (and continues to), and my relationship with a new place alongside that. It’s one of the queerest songs on the record, all three sections highlight a different realm of my queer experience. It’s also potentially the most unconventionally arranged song on the record and making it was a very playful and light-hearted process. From the get-go I wanted it to have three very different sections in this song, the rest of the band trusted that instinct and we all threw ourselves into making it work, so it was nice to feel professionally seen whilst making a song about feeling personally seen!"

Dublin based art rock band Fosfín (Irish and Icelandic word for phosphine) released their third single venera on 4 January 2025. It’s taken from their forthcoming EP Mutant, a self-recorded, DIY project set for release on 24 January 2025. Fosfín was founded by Brazilian born, Dublin based Paula Moura, and in 2023 drummer Meg Bruce (Tone Deaf, Gag Reflex and Shark School) joined the lineup for the recording of the EP.

Paula shares the following on the new single: "In writing venera, the bass riff at 1:51 came first. At the time, I was struggling to write lyrics in English, so rather than forcing the words, I let the guitar take the lead in telling the story. The part with the vocals came later, when I was experimenting more with the guitar. I grew up playing violão in Brazil, which is our version of classical guitar, and I always loved the act of plucking the strings and exploring different textures. Eventually, the two parts merged. I was initially worried no one would want to work on a five-minute song, but thankfully Meg (drummer/co-writer) and Jye (engineer/mixer) were both super enthusiastic."

venera is the third single from the EP, following retornello and mutant. It is a track full of atmosphere, led by the instrumentation. Indeed the guitar and bass parts are stunning and almost play the role of the vocalist, especially in the second half. The accompanying percussion sits as a layer underneath, supporting the track, and those final few seconds are simply breathtaking as it closes out. Deft and beguiling venera will weave its magic and slowly and imperceptibly worm its way into your subconscious, such is the hypnotic quality of its soundscape.
