Our weekly fix of the best new music as Julia Mason (aka The Decibel Decoder) brings us her new music review with singles from DIVES Happier and The Endless Parade Puppydog
Artist: DIVES
Track: Happier
Vienna trio DIVES share new single Happier via Siluh Records (GARDENS, Laundromat Chicks) ahead of a special homecoming Christmas show next month. Charged with both thoughtful melancholy and forward looking hope, the bittersweet melodies and blue-sky-bright instrumentation result in a shimmering track. The crystal clear crisp vocals are a joy and the indie guitars have a hint of edge. The message is one positivity, of this too shall pass "hang in there, hang in there", perhaps particularly relevant for some at this time of the year.
Dora de Goederen (drums), Tamara Leichtfried (guitar, vocals) and Viktoria Kirner (bass, vocals) are DIVES, and they share the following on Happier: “The song deals with the fear of standing in front of the changed self and entering into self-dialogue: how do you look at yourself when you no longer recognise yourself in the mirror? How do you talk to yourself when you suddenly realise that you can no longer be the same person you used to be? When you have to admit that you haven't been well for a long time? The song title Happier refers to a past and future actual state and becomes a programmatic goal. I see you and I know that you exist in a happier version that will come again.”

Artist: The Endless Parade
Track: Puppydog
Kerry based duo, The Endless Parade (Gary Landers and Mikey Maguire) have released their uptempo pop song Puppydog. Featuring Podge McNamee (Hamsandwich) on lead vocals and David Blaize on backing vocals, the track is the third single following The Endless Parade and their debut Amsterdam.
It's a delightful song with gorgeous vocal harmonies and a lightness of touch. The production is exquisite, and the keyboard sequence is definitely earworm material, imperceptibly weaving its way in and remaining there for some time to come.
Puppydog is an antidote to the noise which we are being bombarded with from all directions at the moment. Sometimes you just need to sit back, and regain equilibrium, so important in these turbulent times.
