Fulvetta are a Dublin-based 4 piece alt-rock group comprising vocalist and guitarist AJ Das, drummer Dylan Quinn, keyboardist Dylan French and bassist Grace MacDonnell.

They imbibe influences from a variety of genres and bands without being in hock to them - dreamy, reverb-laden shoegaze pioneers My Bloody Valentine, classic 90s era Smashing Pumpkins and fuzzed up noise from the likes of Dinosaur Jr. and Sonic Youth.

Their goal is to create an amalgamation of everything which made them fall in love with music and create their own unique sound. Fuzzy and with a heavy roar which also at times has a restrained delicacy, they certainly hit that nail.

Songbird is the band's debut EP consisting of 3 tracks - DYNASTY, If You Loved Me and Hemispheres. For a young band this is a remarkably assured and confident trifecta of beautifully written, arranged and produced, melodic walls of noise. Hemispheres in particular is a standout track which opens like This Mortal Coil's version of Song To The Siren before a funky, muscular bass brings in the whole band. It sounds like The Smiths met Billy Corgan and Kevin Shields in a Manchester boozer and said fuck it let's go record a big one.

Having said that the preceding two tracks are by no means lacking in Fulvetta's trademark roar and grasp of dynamics, topped off with delicate keyboard touches in all the right places.

Definitely one to watch.
