Here at Blowtorch Records we love a band who resist pigeon holing. And lo we present Pebbledash - a Cork six piece who have been building a buzz ever since their first track Running Away appeared on Spotify in March 2023.

After follow up No Worse there was a marked change in lineup and in sound. As noted in this interview in postburnout.com, "this new sound was heard on the two tracks which served as an introduction to this different side of Pebbledash. The glistening, fragile, downcast, dreamy, staticky, and strangely comforting A-side, Killer Lover, is an original track and, without a shadow of a doubt, is one of the best songs of 2024." The other track was their cover of the Irish folk song Carraig Aonair.

Their sound has developed and added nuances, layers and richness, like a Cork stew that has been simmering away on the stove and been seasoned with Irish trad, shoegaze, noise rock and an added dash of melancholic swagger.

Slowly Slowly sounds like the band's take on 90s alt rock behemoths Smashing Pumpkins strained through their own filter of house cladding materials.

And so trailed by new 2024 singles Soak and Tell Me, and now Slowly Slowly, Pebbledash prepare to release their debut EP Four Portraits Of The Same Ugly House on January 31. Slowly Slowly sounds like the band's take on 90s alt rock behemoths Smashing Pumpkins strained through their own filter of house cladding materials.

The band explains: “Slowly Slowly is a song about the desire to belong, be seen, and in many ways the selfishness of needing recognition. The lamenting tone of the vocals and harmonies glide upon the guitars and this frustration builds to the brief release of feedback at the choruses before returning to the echo chamber in the second verse. Recorded in complete darkness in an attempt to capture that feeling of isolation and translate it to the music Slowly Slowly jumps between catharsis and longing. It is our statement of the “beautiful ugly” the things you want but know you shouldn’t and the heartbreak when things don’t happen like how you dream, and I guess this is us saying it's fine to be selfish sometimes about these kinds of things.”

The title of the upcoming EP Four Portraits of the Same Ugly House refers to the band’s time spent in Cork city, often referred to as the “Ugly House” in their narrative.

The four songs on the EP represent key moments in their lives, marked by nostalgia and a desire for connection. It is produced by Aidan O’Mahoney at Kitten Lane Studios and mastered by Pete Maher known for his work with Nick Cave, Pixies, Jack White and The Jesus and Mary Chain.
