Petrichor are a Wicklow four piece who have released their debut single Pious on all digital platforms. They aim to compel listeners to feel something new with a fusion of industrial noise and shoegaze backed with massive instrumentation, entrancing melodies and emotive lyrics. All embracing the heart of darkness.

It drops into a blistering, industrial outro of metallic percussion pierced by electronic distortion - the end is coming but please don't let this stop

As if mirroring the nerves of any life debut, the vocal opens with a slight hesitancy but soon the track builds into a confident behemoth of heavy noise. The repeated refrain of "forgive all your trespasses and get down one knee..." is extremely effective at building tension through the track. Petrichor is the pleasing smell of rain after a dry spell. If there's a word for what happens after Pious reaches its angry crescendo, I'd love to learn. It drops into a thrilling, blistering, industrial outro of metallic percussion pierced by electronic distortion - the end is coming but please don't let this stop. Someone put that on a loop.

The band reveal: “When we were writing Pious, we wanted it to have a hectic feel, like it was all over the place but still put together, organised noise in a way. At the time we were heavily inspired by the fusion of electronic industrial music and loud rock, similar to the likes of Gilla band, Enola Gay, Nerves and Naked Lungs. But that wasn’t everything. We wanted to create something that sounded and felt new, and try to avoid relying on other music, which was all part of our creative process which we discovered by just jamming endlessly until we found something that clicked.”

Petrichor are a four-piece band from Wicklow formed in November 2022. They are Liam Hughes - guitar and lead vocal, Lu Hope - bass guitar, Ben Verdes - guitar and backing vocals, Harry Richards – drums.

They play a launch gig in Dublin's Anseo on Camden Street Saturday September 28th.
