Latest Podcast featuring Slyrydes
Our latest podcast finds me chatting to Marc Raftery, the frontman from Galway noiseniks Slyrydes. Starting out in 2019 they have released a clutch of brilliant singles and built up a rabid following with incendiary live shows. Forthright, funny, passionate and empathetic, Marc delivers his opinions on everything from mental health provision in Ireland, politics and national broadcasters to country music, The Coronas and Connemara TDs. He clearly thinks and cares deeply - including about Slyrydes which for the four members seems to be as much a mission as a band. They have a vinyl double A single coming soon comprising Boy In The Debs Suit and I Claim To Be Intelligent. Later this year, not only can we look forward to seeing them live, we will hear their debut album What Happens If You Get Happy. Oh yeah!
Turnstiles Dublin gig
Turnstiles are playing a seated, socially distanced gig in The Button Factory, Dublin on July 8. It's a Blowtorch double header with support from Static Vision. Tickets are limited to 85 and they're going fast - get in quick! Only available online here
Paper Tigers livestream
Belfast's Paper Tigers performed a blistering live stream in association with Audio Kitchen. It's on the Tigers' YouTube channel - see right. This was their first live outing since you know what. And their first with new drummer Matt so doubly impressive and double bubbly all round.
