Rob Smith's Dublin electronic project drop the first single from forthcoming album Dance To The Drum Machine
Track: The Ballhaus
Band: The Swedish Railway Orchestra
Released: April 13 2022
The Swedish Railway Orchestra is the project of Dublin musician and producer Rob Smith; The Ballhaus is the first release from the upcoming album Dance To The Drum Machine. The track was written several years ago in Berlin and has a more dark and melancholy feel than TSRO's previous releases - and the accompanying video is authentically gothic. He says of the video “It came out better than I expected. I knew I wanted a haunted house and a feeling of isolation which complements the music nicely. I'm glad the video shows these feelings.”
Initially a DJing duo which included Daniel Lambert, TSRO became late night specialists with their odd remixes and dark club vibes, playing clubs in New York as well as their native Dublin, and even headlined the Vantastival festival in 2015.
Testing the waters with original music on his own in 2016 with the Balearic beats of Northern Lights, Smith began to turn heads a year later with the single I Don't See Any Daylight Anymore.
2020 saw the release of the self titled third studio album which featured the hit single The Freaks Come Out At Night which was a mainstay on Irish radio that summer. To this day it is still esteemed and played by some of the UK and Ireland's most well known DJs in some prestigious clubs.
The new album Dance To The Drum Machine is set for a vinyl release on July 27th 2022. We talked to Rob about the TSRO project and how he makes his music in our recent podcast.
